Enterprise Network Engineer

Western New England University is seeking a full-time Enterprise Network Engineer. The Enterprise Network Engineer engages with the rest of the Information Technology team to ensure the design and construction of the network meets the business needs of the enterprise while also considering technical considerations like security, scalability, resiliency, and redundancy.

Staffing agencies will not be utilized for this position.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
  • Expertise to apply knowledge of all seven layer of engineering to the design and operation of networks internal and external to the enterprise.
  • Professionally engage with all technology colleagues and third-party vendors to effectively manage change.
  • Effectively communicates with other members of the Community to diagnose issues and provide solutions that securely and efficiently meet the need.
Qualifications:
  • Expert Knowledge of modern network and computing environments. Degree and/or Certifications Preferred.
  • Leadership skills & judgement capable of overseeing and managing the various support and services provided to the University community.
  • Juniper Preferred.
  • Experienced in network services such as VPN, Radius, Firewall, DNS, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable about the use of a wide range of systems including but not limited to networks, servers, routers, wireless, WAN and user devices. Application software knowledge in a higher education environment is helpful.
  • Proficient operating in a Linux or Microsoft environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse groups and a commitment to collaborative teamwork.
  • Ability to develop a broad range of budget information required for operational, capital, and grant initiatives.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in providing internal and external network design, deployment and management.
