This position requires a functional Subject Matter Expert who operates with high independence, drives strategic initiatives, and provides leadership across cybersecurity domains.

Position Overview

As a Sr IT Security Engineer, you will serve as the primary SME for distributed compute security solutions, operating with minimal direction while managing complex security objectives. You'll drive process improvements, mentor team members, and represent our security initiatives across cross-functional projects while maintaining our global security posture.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & SME Functions

  • Own and drive security strategy for distributed compute environments and endpoint security domains
  • Serve as primary SME for cybersecurity tooling implementation, optimization, and enterprise-wide deployment
  • Develop and execute annual security objectives aligned with organizational PMD goals, with emphasis on automation and efficiency improvements
  • Lead cross-functional security initiatives and represent the team in enterprise-wide projects
  • Contribute to team strategy development for owned functional areas and security products

Advanced Technical Operations

  • Engineer and implement complex cybersecurity solutions across global network environments
  • Develop KPIs and metrics to monitor security posture, tool effectiveness, and process improvements
  • Design and maintain enterprise-level endpoint security controls and distributed compute solutions
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for diverse endpoint environments
  • Drive automation initiatives for recurring security tasks and processes

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Train and mentor team members on endpoint security, identity threat protection, MFA at scale over various authentication mechanisms, and emerging security technologies
  • Manage team operations during leadership absence as needed
  • Evaluate and challenge security initiatives, projects, and strategic direction
  • Provide technical guidance to peers and junior staff on complex security implementations

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Function as SME for security process improvement activities and optimization meetings
  • Identify and prioritize critical areas for cybersecurity enhancement and technology advancement
  • Lead full execution of process improvement initiatives from conception to implementation
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive security documentation, policies, and standards

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Simplify complex security concepts for non-technical audiences and executive leadership
  • Develop and present security materials and strategic recommendations to team leadership
  • Build and own strong cross-functional relationships across IT, business units, and external partners
  • Proactively communicate security posture updates and collaborate with business stakeholders

Recruitment & Professional Development

  • Participate in interview processes for junior security roles and provide candidate assessments
  • Engage in continuous learning through industry forums, professional development, and certification programs
  • Volunteer for company-wide initiatives supporting organizational mission and values

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience accepted)
  • Advanced certifications required: CrowdStrike Certified Falcon Administrator (CCFA), CompTIA CySA+, or equivalent security certifications
  • Additional industry certifications preferred (CISSP, CISM, CEH)

Experience

  • 7+ years of systems administration experience with proven leadership in complex environments
  • 5+ years of endpoint security experience in large-scale enterprise environments
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with engineering modern endpoint security solutions in large (100k+ endpoint) environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing security projects and leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Proven track record of process improvement and automation implementation

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level knowledge of Windows, MacOS and Linux operating systems and security frameworks
  • Advanced proficiency in endpoint security principles, threat detection, and incident response from an engineering standpoint (tactical)
  • Strong experience with enterprise security tools, SIEM platforms, and security orchestration integrations with security tooling you are responsible for
  • Demonstrated ability to engineer and implement complex security solutions
  • Experience with cloud security, containerization, and modern distributed endpoint (remote, OT, on-premise, etc.) environments

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with bias for action in ambiguous situations
  • Strong influence and negotiation skills to drive agreement across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to present to executive audiences
  • Proven mentorship and training capabilities with track record of developing team members
  • High attention to detail with commitment to excellence and quality standards
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple complex priorities

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $113,500.00–$170,200.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
