Senior Manager, Software Engineering
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead the team developing software for the SimSpace cyber range platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills to guide and mentor teams with a proven track record of delivering quality software in an agile environment, driving continuous improvement and fostering a collaborative, inclusive and innovative team culture.
In this position, you'll lead your team through complex technical projects and collaborate closely with other teams to build high-quality, scalable software that operates within the unique constraints of cyber range environments. The focus is on providing leadership, strategic direction, and execution planning for the emulation software stack. Specifically, this position will be responsible for:
Offensive Cyber Security Attack Emulation engine
User Emulation engine across Windows and Linux systems
This role reports to the Director of Platform Engineering.
What will you be doing as a Senior Manager, Software Engineering at SimSpace?
Lead and manage teams responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our software products.
Lead quarterly planning cycles for the Attack and User Emulation (AUE) team, translating high-level initiatives into detailed execution roadmaps with clear milestones, resource allocations, and delivery commitments. Monitor progress against plans, identify risks early, and adapt execution strategies as needed to ensure successful delivery.
Proactively coordinate with peer engineering teams across the organization to identify dependencies, align on integration points, and ensure seamless delivery. Build strong collaborative relationships that enable effective problem-solving and prevent execution blockers.
Work closely with the product management team to ensure software development projects are aligned with business objectives and timelines.
Develop deep understanding of cyber range operational constraints, including resource isolation, network simulation requirements, and the unique challenges of building software that must operate reliably in simulated enterprise environments.
Mentor and coach team members toward proactive ownership and accountability, promoting their professional growth and technical leadership development.
Foster a culture where engineers identify and solve problems before they escalate, take initiative on improvements, and operate with accountability for outcomes. Lead by example through your own proactive approach to challenges and decision-making.
Improve and adapt agile processes to enhance the team's velocity, quality, and delivery of essential software platform features and functions.

Strong technical leader capable of understanding complex problem domains. The AUE domain involves intricate attack simulation, realistic user behavior modeling, and the unique constraints of cyber range environments - experience in cybersecurity or offensive security is preferred but strong engineering leadership is the primary qualification.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to mentor and coach team members toward proactive ownership and technical leadership, promoting their professional growth and development.
Comfortable with agile software development methodologies and able to adapt to changing business needs.
Driven by outcomes and accountability, with a track record of delivering results even when faced with ambiguity or competing priorities.
Seeking to learn and stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
What are the qualifications to apply?
To be successful as a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you need to have:
8+ years of experience in software development with at least 2+ years in managerial role.
Proven ability to guide architectural decisions and lead teams through sophisticated technical challenges.
Demonstrated experience leading teams that design, build, and operate large, distributed systems, including experience in requirements gathering and project breakdown and execution.
Experience leading teams building and operating services at scale.
Experience overseeing the development and deployment of cutting-edge solutions for both cloud and on-premises environments.
Bachelor's in computer science or related field.
