SAIC is seeking a Communications Network Engineer Principal. This role is 100% remote but will require 25% travel.

The Communication Network Engineer Principal is responsible for the design, analysis, planning, modification, and maintenance of networks and network components supporting data, voice, and/or communication activities.

They will:

  • Prepare the analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission, and signaling.
  • Conduct Verification Site Surveys (VSS)
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections.
  • Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies as well as internal studies of network performance and traffic analysis.
  • Evaluate new and upcoming technology.
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provide tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Responsible for testing of new and existing network systems

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more of related experience.
  • Nine (9) years of experience in network services, Cisco AS or high-level support, or large-scale Network Design experience
  • Able to design, document, deploy and configure Cisco Unified Border Element Session Border Controllers (SBC) to support the transition from Primary Rate Interface (PRI) to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunks.
  • Experience developing voice solution designs and engineering enterprise voice systems including extensive experience with Avaya and Cisco call management tools and technologies.
  • Hands on experience using Configuration Accounting Integration Report Security (CAIRS) Telecommunications Management System (TMS), CAIRS VoIP Discovery, and Avaya System Manager to manage, administer, and configure Avaya Communication Manager.
  • Hands on experience with Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) telephone switches and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) administration including configuration of voice gateways.
  • Thorough understanding of Avaya and Cisco core voice solution components and able to manage, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain those components in an enterprise environment.
  • Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) experience within the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) for Assessment and Authorization (A&A) of voice solutions.
  • Understanding of VoIP, SIP, IMS, and standards like VoLTE.
  • Understanding of Telecommunication Facilities and supporting internal Auxiliary Infrastructure.
  • Development, planning, and execution of test, validation, and cutover methodologies.
  • DoD IAT Level II certification.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Cisco and Avaya Voice and Network professional level certifications are preferred
  • Experience with network power.
  • Experience with Unified Communications
  • Experience in Wireless and MPLS
  • Experience supporting Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC), the United States Marine Corps (USMC), the United States Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), or other Government Agency supporting Network Modernization

Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
