SAIC is hiring a Senior Digital Engineer (DE) / Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) for a contract with the FAA HQ in Washington, DC. This position is remote, and the applicant can reside anywhere within the U.S. but must be able to travel to SAIC facilities (Reston, VA and Washington D.C.) and FAA customer facilities (Washington, D.C. and Atlantic City, NJ) on an as-needed basis.

Responsible for creating and optimizing digital solutions to enhance meet FAA customer experience, streamline business and solution processes, and support the FAA’s digital initiatives. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to implement cutting-edge technologies, integrate systems, and drive innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Digital Engineer (DE) / Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE), you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and maintenance of MBSE models for government systems. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, testing, documentation, and ongoing support, all following an Agile / Scrum development process.
  • A successful candidate in this position will bring a record of application of systems engineering and Digital Engineering / MBSE methods and creative thought-leadership to mature and develop revolutionary digital engineering solutions across defense, federal civilian, and national security customer groups. The solutions will consist of process, tools, and people.
  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to support the analyses, design, development, and verification of lifecycle-balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Works with data engineers and analysts to incorporate data-driven insights into digital solutions.
  • Collaborates with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to align solutions with mission needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years or more of related experience or Master’s degree and seven (7) years or more of related experience
  • Must have experience with Cameo MagicDraw.
  • Intermediate / Advanced experience using enterprise modeling tools (e.g., Cameo / Magic Draw) to model complex systems using SysML.
  • Expertise in current System Analysis and Design methods, along with familiarity with the Systems Modeling Language (SysML), the Unified Modeling Language (UML), and (optionally) the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Broad systems engineering experience (e.g., system architecture and design, systems documentation, system requirements, CONOPS, systems verification).
  • Solid understanding and experience in systems and / or software engineering, including systems architecture, requirements development, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Previous experience implementing model-based approaches on engineering projects / programs, ensuring seamless integration of delivered models within the receiving architecture and digital engineering platform.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership of projects and processes and achieving schedule and technical goals as assigned.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence diverse audiences on digital concepts and technologies, from business leaders to technologists.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • OMG Certified System Modeling Professional (OSCMP) certification.
  • OMG SysML Certification: Model User (MU), Model Builder Fundamental (MBF), Model Builder Intermediate (MBI) and Model Builder Advanced (MBA).
  • INCOSE Certification (ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP), dependent on experience.
  • Experience with Life Cycle Engineering tools (DOORS Next Gen, Engineering Test Manager (ETM), Rational Quality Manager, Aras Innovator, etc.)
  • Experience leading SE teams through all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle using Digital Engineering (DE) / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Familiarity or experience with Software languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
  • Experience or familiarity with the administration of Model Based Systems Engineering tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience on working with Agile development teams using Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience developing applications on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google cloud.
  • History of working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or Department of Transportation (DOT) data.
  • The ability to obtain a DoD Secret or above clearance is a plus.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
