As a Senior Cryptography Researcher, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that the security of global systems —from national infrastructure to emerging blockchain platforms— is built on sound, secure foundations. You will support critical engagements and advance the field through original research and thought leadership. This role is a cornerstone in how NCC Group delivers assurance to the world’s most complex and high-risk environments.
Summary
In this role, you will:
- Deliver high-quality consultancy projects across a broad range of cryptographic systems
- Lead and contribute to original research, tools, and methodologies
- Support pre-sales conversations with deep technical insight
- Speak at conferences, events, and client forums
- Mentor emerging talent in the cryptography team
In your first 12–24 months, you will:
- Deliver multiple high-impact client projects, influencing design and implementation decisions
- Contribute to public research, tools, or methodologies in cryptography
- Play a visible role in strengthening NCC Group’s reputation as a leader in applied cryptography
- Help shape the strategy and capability development of our North America Cryptography Services team
What We’re Looking For
You’re a senior practitioner with depth in applied cryptography and a track record of delivering impact. Great performance in this role looks like:
- Leading client-facing engagements with precision, confidence, and clarity
- Conducting in-depth analysis of cryptographic protocols, implementations, and key management systems
- Creating or contributing to tools and frameworks that support the cryptography community
- Actively mentoring and lifting those around you
- Bringing forward-thinking views on emerging areas like PQC, threshold schemes, and new primitives
You’ll likely bring experience in some of the following:
- Protocol and implementation review (e.g., TLS, JWT, Signal, proprietary systems)
- Elliptic curve and finite field cryptography
- Symmetric cryptography and cryptographic engineering
- Cryptanalysis or novel system evaluation
- Post-quantum cryptography readiness
- Secure key management lifecycle review
