The National Security Department (N912), located in Annapolis Junction, MD, within MITRE’s Intelligence Center has the responsibility to deliver a cross-organizational set of projects for the MITRE Intelligence Center. We provide cybersecurity and SIGINT expertise to ensure the resilience and survivability of DoD, IC infrastructure, and National Security Systems (NSS) in the face of adversary threats. Our mission is to enable a cybersecurity posture that promotes protection and prevention of actions taken to compromise mission critical devices, services, platforms, products, and software of interest to the U.S. and its allies. Our highly agile team provides support across sponsors using knowledge and skills such as cybersecurity engineering, applied research and development, reverse engineering, software engineering, systems engineering and integration, defensive cyber operations, advanced cyber threats, adversary methodologies, cyber threat intelligence analysis, and technology analysis and assessments.

Job Responsibilities:

The intern will work with a team to apply knowledge and gain experience by performing research and development in a variety of cyber security topics such as:

  • Cyber threat intelligence
  • Operational technology engineering and response
  • Engineering and architecting safe, secure, and resilient systems

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Cyber, Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles, tools and devices.
  • Knowledge of cyber security systems and products
  • Knowledge of cyber security operations
  • Sustained excellence in academic performance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public
  • Experience having applied cybersecurity learning to an internship or research/lab position
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following – JAVA, Python, XML, HTML, C#, Objective C, database design & development

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$46,500 - $58,000 - $69,500 Annual
