94: Systems Administrator (IT Sys Admin IV)

The Electronics for Contested Space Group develops radio-frequency (RF) and advanced electronic systems for space control missions and technology in the protection of our nation’s most important space capabilities. This work includes the design and development of state-of-the-art satellites and satellite payloads, novel concepts for resilient space architectures, and the nation’s most sensitive radars, optics, and passive RF systems. Our group also collaborates across the Laboratory to provide engineering rigor and experience to some of the most critical Laboratory programs. Examples of recent projects include the prototyping of electronic systems and effects, hardware-in-the-loop testing of tactically relevant payloads with surrogate threat systems, and RF subsystem development for satellites.
Job Description
Group 94 is seeking an IT Systems Administrator Level IV to configure and operate classified and unclassified networks of multiple Operating System platforms with Windows and strong UNIX proficiency. The successful candidate will:
- Specify, design, implement, and test network and computer system configurations and upgrades
- Develop, coordinate, and implement network security plans and measures in accordance with government and Laboratory policies
- Identify system performance issues and user needs to recommend specific changes and upgrades
- Perform data backups and recoveries
- Assist staff with computer and network problems and tasks
- Research and recommend commercial hardware and software products to meet project and group requirements
- Order hardware and software products and renew software licenses to ensure continuity of service
- Interact with vendors, security, laboratory personnel, and other system administrators to coordinate procurements, installations, upgrades, and other services
- Create documentation on systems to satisfy certification, security, technical staff, and end users
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience administering IT systems and networks
- Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense Top Secret, SCI, and SAP security clearances
- IT Certification in compliance with DoD Mandate 8570.1-M
- Experience with security plans, procedures, and compliance with DoD requirements
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking problems
- Demonstrated ability to interact with others respectfully and develop productive working relationships
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in Top Secret, SCI, and Special Access Program environments is highly desired
- Experience with enterprise level hardware and software applications like VMWare ESX, NetAPP, Nessus (ACAS), McAfee EPO, Active Directory, Nagios, Ansible and Puppet
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as Perl, python, C/C++, and scripting language
- Experience with security procedures (NISPOM, ICD-503, DJSIG)
- Experience applying security lockdown policies to operating systems through group policy and local settings
- Familiarity working with NIST 800-53 / Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503
