Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: London, UK

We are seeking a talented DevOps Engineer to join our team and help us define and implement our Cloud and Containerization strategy. As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate with the wider Engineering team to accelerate end-to-end delivery lifecycles and workload migrations by creating standards, tools, automation and reusable Infrastructure as Code.

As a Mimecast DevOps Engineers you will be responsible for:

• Define and implement standards, automation, and tooling to enable self-service in the Cloud.

• Evolve & maintain our Kubernetes platforms in private and public Cloud.

• Deploy, configure and manage AWS infrastructure services using IaC such as Terraform.

• Improve our overall engineering processes, testing approaches, deployment pipelines, and operational procedures.

• Assist Engineering to containerize their workloads and acting as a point of contact for the systems and tools we manage.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• 8+ years of experience as a DevOps/Cloud/Site Reliability Engineer in Cloud Production environments.

• Hands-on experience managing container platforms such as Kubernetes, AWS EKS, GKE etc.

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby on Rails, Go, Java).

• A passion for automating everything with re-usable Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm etc.) and standardized CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with core infrastructure services such as DNS (Route53/Unbound), Identity Management, load balancers, web servers etc.

• Demonstratable ability to design, implement and maintain operations of secure cloud environments in AWS, including PKI/Certificates (AWS ACM), Secrets Management and Cloud configuration.

• An understanding of Linux Operating Systems and internals.

Desirable skills & experience:

• Continuous delivery principles and pragmatics of dealing with build pipelines, artifact repositories, zero-downtime deployment, and modern Cloud best practices.

• Experience implementing observability & monitoring tooling for application and infrastructure metrics, logs and traces (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Elastic, Cloud Watch).

• Passion for development and engineering best practices, automation, and productivity.

• Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Highly motivated and organized individual with the ability to work under pressure, assimilating information quickly and acting decisively.

• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

• A Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
