Overview
The Azure Edge team is looking for a Senior Cloud Network Engineer to design and build state-of-the-art services that provide route security and reliability into the networking stack for one of the biggest networks in the world.
As part of this, the Azure Edge team is responsible for building Azure Edge Datacenters in locations close to end users and developing & deploying Azure applications & services on them.
Azure Edge team operates one of the biggest network infrastructures on the planet. The team manages Edge network for entire Microsoft, connecting more than 200 Edge sites and more than 60 Microsoft Azure regions across the globe. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
- OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 11+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 8+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
- OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
- 1+ year(s) experience delivering network designs into production and experience with live site accountability for a network.
Cloud Network Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot live site issues to discover and drive solutions with minimal or no disruption to customers.
- Perform testing and validation of network devices, and demonstrate some knowledge of data.
- Know what data is needed and how to find new or missing data.
- You provide instructions to the data center on how to repair and maintain physical network hardware, and take notes during incidents.
- Participate in postmortem and root-cause analysis processes to continuously improve network reliability.
- Support innovation and cost management by developing new ideas for systems and tools that meet customer and/or business needs.
- Proactively share information across disciplines within your feature team in a timely manner with an appropriate level of detail that is tailored to your audience.
- Provide feedback and some mentorship to other engineers, while also proactively seeking mentorship and feedback from others.
