Job Summary
The OpportunityNetwork Engineer II, Digital ITS Network Engineering Services
Responsible for planning and evaluating network implementations, as well as making recommendations to design in order to ensure network stability and optimum performance.
Essential Functions
-Configures, deploys, manages, and maintains network equipment in local-area and wide-area networks.
-Monitors network performance and operation with the network management stations.
-Troubleshoots network problems via diagnostic tools.
-Provides consulting services for remote sites; works with other Digital departments to ensure superior application performance and network stability.
-Monitors network traffic to ensure optimum uptime and performance in a proactive manner.
-Works with security office to identify possible breaches to network security; help maintains firewall and monitor integrity of firewall.
-Administers network addresses and configures routing equipment accordingly
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Information Systems preferred
- Experience in lieu of a degree can be considered
- Experience with networking and internetworking devices and software 2-3 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High-level technical skill in deploying and maintaining network equipment and internetworking devices.
- Demonstrated proficiency in network protocols, including administration and troubleshooting.
- Analytical and reasoning skills, particularly in solving large, complex problems.
- Ability to assume high levels of responsibility and to work with minimum of day-to-day supervision.
- Ability to function as a member of the team, and to work collaboratively with multiple institutions, departments, and technical, operations, and network staffs across multiple facilities.
