Leidos Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) is seeking a Systems Engineer in the Aviation organization. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to engage in hands-on work while developing a deep understanding of aviation security products. The role is highly impactful because the products being developed make travel and trade safer, healthier, and more efficient on a global level.
Working in a diverse and collaborative R&D environment, this position will be responsible for providing system-level engineering support to maintain and enhance x-ray scanners. This will include integration and evaluation of electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software components, as well as analysis of system-level performance and reliability.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform fundamental engineering duties in electrical design efforts including development, integration, testing, measuring, and analyses/simulations for a variety of products
- Refine conceptual designs into complete production designs incorporating the appropriate connectors, cables and wiring to meet design criteria
- Design alternative solutions to reduce bill-of-material costs.
- Integration and testing of electrical and electro-mechanical subsystems.
- Finding and evaluating replacements for end-of-life components.
- Troubleshooting system-level problems.
- Working with Manufacturing Engineers to resolve production problems.
- Working with Field Support Engineers to improve system performance.
- Replicating field problems in the lab and determining root cause.
- Create test fixtures and procedures to test system components.
- Produce documentation for changes and submit engineering change orders.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related field with 2+ years’ experience, or a Master’s degree in related field and 1-2 years’ experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Strong documentation and process discipline with close attention to details
- Strong communication skills, including excellent writing and presentation skills
- Background in design of power distribution systems, electrical circuits, and cabling
- Knowledge of analog and digital design
- Must possess the technical expertise to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on prototyping and debugging experience
- Development experience with Programmable Logic Controllers
- Linux experience

Pay Range:
Pay Range $67,600.00 - $122,200.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
