We are in search of a Lead Network Engineer for the Enterprise Information Technology as a Service (EITaaS) Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) contract.

BIM is part of the Department of the Air Force’s (DAF) initiative leveraging industry to provide innovative, and agile IT services across the Air and Space Forces. EITaaS drives game changing behaviors to enhance mission effectiveness using worldwide commercial business services and best practices. The EITaaS BIM effort begins with assuming current operations and progresses through the holistic design, implementation, and sustainment of a modernized Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPR) and Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPR) infrastructures. The Lead Network Engineer is a team lead and key technical player in all phases of the modernization effort.

THE CHALLENGE:

  • Oversee all aspects of base network engineering, including service as the main POC for technical issues.
  • Design, develop, and recommend LAN network architectures and engineering plans.
  • Contribute as the network team lead to technical interchange and other meetings and act as a liaison with program leadership.
  • Engage with customers on the strategic design process to translate mission requirements into technical designs.
  • Work closely with the customer and other team leads to facilitate effective planning and accomplishment of critical objectives in a timely manner.
  • Understand and troubleshoot complex situations, successfully applying solutions without compromising customer mission capability or network performance.
  • Support the project lifecycle for infrastructure and technology projects, configure and validate secure network systems
  • Monitor sub-contractor deliverables and interface requirements in conjunction with the PM.
  • Providing reports, deliverables, and briefings to customers, leadership and senior management.
  • Approve all network engineering documents. This includes, but is not limited to, Site Preparation Requirements and Installation Plan (SPRIP), Preliminary Integration Review (PIR), Critical Integration Review (CIR), and Integration Plan Acceptance (IPA) documents.
  • Provide technical guidance to the BIM team to include design and configuration changes, network management solutions, sustainment requirements, and test labs.

WHAT SETS YOU APART:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information technology, and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. (Additional years of relevant experience and/or technology certifications may be considered in lieu of degree.).
  • Possess a network engineering technical certification equivalent to a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • Hold a CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Extensive experience with designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks to include hardware (switches, routers), software (operating system), network management systems, network access control (NAC), quality of service (QoS), network services (timing, logging, etc.), and distribution systems (fiber and copper cables and infrastructure).
  • Experience with Network Administration, Network Security, Networking Standards, Network Protocols, NIST/FISMA standards and controls, SIEM platforms and other networking tools, Network Hardware Configurations
  • Ability to write and verbally communicate information security and risk-related concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must have strong problem-solving, analytical, communication and people skills

CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Active secret security clearance.

TRAVEL: First six-month ideal candidate must be able to travel 50%, there after it will drop to 25%

YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE (but not required):

  • Experience in IPv4 and IPv6 implementation
  • Experience with designing, configuring, and implementing a wireless network.
  • Experience in Network planning, design strategies for an enterprise WLAN, design of infrastructure and network services, designing WLAN RF, advanced wireless site surveying, security design, and troubleshooting of WLAN design.
  • Demonstrated experience with an Air Force Customer
  • Experience in Software Defined Networking and virtualization solutions
  • Understanding of Zero Trust principles to include network segmentation best practices and implementation

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
