Key Required Responsibilities / Job Profile:

This role will be working within the Iron Mountain Government Services team and requires U.S. Citizenship living on U.S. soil and while active government clearance is not required, the candidate must be eligible for government clearance to perform this role.

Technology/Automation/Monitoring:

  • Engineer in a monitoring platform such as solarwinds, datadog, openview, bmc, etc (Working experience: +5years)
  • Network, application Performance and synthetic monitoring (Working experience: +5years)
  • Working expertise in performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards, and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool. Preferably Datadog or Solarwinds, but other monitoring tools acceptable such as HP Openview, BMC, etc (Working experience: +5years)
  • Working experience in end to end automation of detecting missing assets and automatically configuring/adding them into the monitoring eCOsystem (via automation, rest API/scripting).
  • Working expertise with monitoring a variety of end devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, storage, virtual, Windows servers, Linux servers and UNIX servers (Working experience: +5years)
  • Working expertise in automating infrastructure as code/operations using appropriate automation tools. Preferably ansible and python platforms to establish event correlation (Working experience: +5years)
  • Working expertise in solutioning end to end observability by enriching the monitoring data with other platform data such as CMDB/ServiceNOW ticketing platform, and other vendor
  • Working expertise configuring monitors using SNMP, SSH, WinRM, WMI, JMX and other technologies (Working experience: +5years)
  • Ability to design and implement a highly available continuous monitoring platform to be utilized by a 24x7 operations and cross functional teams
  • Leverage expertise in recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommend performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs, and provide monitoring tool infrastructure recommendations
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
  • Working expertise in solutioning/engineering
  • Working expertise in onPrem and cloud solutions/environments
  • Level 3 troubleshooting skills
  • Working expertise in a ticketing/CMDB platform. Preferably SNOW, but other tools acceptable such as Remedy, Assyst, etc
  • Education/Experience: 4 year college degree / 10+ years

Technology : Nice to have Responsibilities:

  • Working expertise in infrastructure/application log aggregation ingested into a security platform. Preferably using ELK, logstash and Kabana. Other tools such as Splunk, qRadar, etc
  • Coding expertise in ansible and python
  • Ability to create and execute complex SQL queries for reporting, alerting, correlation, etc

Process/Operational Experience:

  • Assess critical gaps in coverage and provide recommendations on automation/proactive monitoring
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work on individual and team tasks
  • Engineer must be able to work effectively with the Enterprise Architects, OS engineers, and operation support teams to provide training, develop guidelines and serve as a subject matter expert
  • Ability to envision opportunities for automation for standard operating processes
  • Is a key hands-on contributor in the development life-cycle, performing analysis, driving architecture and design, development, integration and testing
  • Working with the stakeholders and team members to scope, size and articulate project concepts into clear project objectives, delivery approaches and plans
  • Ability to share knowledge of monitoring best practices with system owners and system administrators to enhance overall monitoring and alerting posture
  • Ability to plan and execute system and software installations upgrades and changes across the organization
  • Project management with understanding of various methodologies such as agile, scrum, etc
  • Identify risks/roadblockers and mitigate them throughout all projects and tasks while ensuring major design flaws are addressed
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities and maintain backlog list
  • Experience with gathering and organizing large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an Enterprise monitoring solution
  • Ability to represent, design, and solution in architecture and process diagrams
