Security Software Principal Engineer (C/C++)

This role pertains to a Security Engineer within the Backend team. The team's primary objective is to advance the backend components of Dell's Primary storage solutions. The team's sole focus revolves around designing the software framework responsible for identifying, managing, and establishing connections to drives, enclosures, and related hardware components. The system comprises various layers including hardware, firmware, and software, all of which must be safeguarded using Zero Trust approaches. This involves integrating measures like authentication, certificates, root of trust, and signing to ensure comprehensive protection.

The role involves devising and executing security strategies for advanced storage expansion in the upcoming generation, while carefully considering potential points of attack, usage scenarios, connectivity, and overall system architecture.

What you’ll achieve
As a Software Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software based on the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.

You will:

• Contribute to the design and architecture of high-quality, complex systems and software/storage environments

• Prepare, review, and evaluate software/storage specifications for products and systems

• Contribute to the development and implementation of test strategies for complex software products and systems/for storage products and systems

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a leading university, Master’s degree an advantage

• 5+ years of development experience in security area, root of trust, signing, certificates, familiarity with Zero Trust an advantage

• Proficiency with programming languages; operating systems; firmware; BIOS; device drivers; databases; system, network, and application administration; tools and utilities and the ability to learn new tools and topics if needed.

• Ability to dive into complex designs and codebase, debug and improve complicated, scalable code and the ability to independently design, implement and debug extensions and features for an existing product

• Fluent English and ability to communicate with global teams

Desirable Requirements

• Experience with Secure development and securing management and data traffic

• Knowledge and experience developing solution using ZeroTrust principles

• Experience designing and developing security solutions for complex multi agent systems with multiple layers of profiling and orchestration
