Job Description

The Office of the Associate Vice Provost, Research Administration at Boston College is seeking an experienced Research Business Systems Administrator to manage and support the university’s IT systems that facilitate research activities. This role is critical to the smooth operation of systems such as InfoEd and other electronic Research Administration (eRA) platforms that underpin research activities across the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and monitor the performance of research IT systems (e.g. InfoEd and other eRA platforms)
  • Collaborate closely with central IT, researchers, and administrative staff to ensure technical needs are met efficiently.
  • Address and resolve system issues promptly to minimize disruption.
  • Manage upgrades, migrations, and test and verify system issues.
  • Develop technical documentation and training resources.
  • Contribute to strategic discussions around research systems improvements.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.


Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $87,900 to $109,900; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with complex IT systems in a research or academic setting.
  • Deep technical knowledge of research administration tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset and a proactive, service-oriented approach.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to support system needs or special initiatives.
