This Role Requires Applicants To Be Located south of Boston MA, or close to the Quincy MA area as you will be required to be on site as needed 2-3 days a week. No Relocation Will Be Provided to anyone that applies from out of state.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Network & Systems Engineer to join our growing, dynamic team in delivering exceptional service to our customers. In this role, you will take the lead in supporting a large and important customer environment, while also lending your expertise to a diverse portfolio of smaller customers and teammates as needed.

You will leverage your deep knowledge of networking technologies including Cisco, HPE, and Dell switches, as well as SonicWall, Fortinet, Meraki and Palo Alto firewalls, to manage, troubleshoot, and optimize mission-critical networks. Additionally, you will be responsible for working directly on Dell servers and must demonstrate a strong understanding of Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance across both network and server environments. You will also actively contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives, helping to elevate our service delivery.


We are seeking candidates located in the greater Boston area (with a preference for Quincy or surrounding towns) who can travel locally to customer sites for support, upgrades, and emergency situations as required. Reliable transportation is a must. This role requires the physical ability to safely climb ladders and access ceiling spaces to inspect and verify wireless access point connectivity and power. Candidates must also be able to lift and transport servers, network equipment, and folding ladders as part of routine installation and maintenance tasks. Experience supporting municipal environments and SLED (State, Local, and Education) sector expertise is a definite plus. Key Responsibilities

Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
  • Quickly assess and resolve network and server-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Proactive Network and Systems Maintenance:
  • Perform firmware updates, patches, and upgrades across all network devices, Dell servers, and Windows systems.
  • Monitor network and server health and performance, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
Documentation and Process Improvement:
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical diagrams.
  • Develop runbooks to streamline troubleshooting and resolution processes.
Communication and Collaboration:
  • Provide timely updates and clear communication to stakeholders during incidents and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network and server services.
  • On-Call Support - Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support when needed.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Technical Skills:
  • Switching and Routing: Expertise in Cisco, HP, and Dell switches, with a solid understanding of VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree.
  • Firewalls: Hands-on experience with SonicWALL, Fortinet, Meraki, and Palo Alto firewalls, including policy configuration, troubleshooting, high availability, and optimization.
  • Wireless and Cloud Networking: Experience with Cisco and Meraki Wireless.
  • Load Balancing: Proficiency with physical and virtual F5 load balancers, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Monitoring: Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
  • Servers: Hands-on experience working on Dell servers, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Operating Systems: Strong understanding and practical experience with Windows Server operating systems.
  • Directory Services: Proficient in managing and troubleshooting Active Directory, including user/group management, GPOs, and authentication issues.
Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide clear updates and create comprehensive documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Experience:
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in network and systems engineering roles, with a focus on enterprise-scale environments.
  • Proven track record in incident management, RCA, and delivering network and server solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with firmware updates, patch management, and hardware lifecycle management.
Certifications (Preferred):
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Active Directory-related certifications a plus.
